Kimberly is currently a Resident in Counseling with Connections4life and has a Masters In Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Kimberly, her husband, and 14 year old daughter recently relocated from Stone Ridge, VA to Western Loudoun, Virginia where they have bears, deer and the occasional wild turkey roaming around! They are spending time outdoors and loving the sunsets from their mountain home. Kimberly earned her her BS in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University. Kimberly taught children ages 4-12 for several years. She then began working with pediatric patients in the hospital setting at Children’s Healthcare Of Atlanta as a certified Child Life Specialist. Kimberly worked in this capacity in hospitals in Macon, Atlanta, D.C., and Northern Virginia. Most recently, she was part of the Child Life team at Inova Loudoun Hospital.
Kimberly realized that her role as a helper would be further impactful as a mental health therapist serving clients of all ages who are coping with trauma, medical trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and every day stressors outside of the hospital environment. She completed her internship with Connections4life and received her MA in clinical mental health counseling from Regent University in Virginia Beach. Kimberly feels strongly that therapy is a personal journey and uses a holistic approach including: Trauma Focused Therapy (Certified Clinical Trauma Practitioner), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR- level 2 trained), CBT, mindfulness, strength based approaches, music, play and art interventions in addition to traditional talk therapy in her practice. She is a strong advocate for animals in therapy and is always up for a walk and talk session around the neighborhood with your family pet!
